I remember one of those WTBS late night movies at least 40 years ago where some local boss in some such place/time had constructed the “Iron Mane”. It was basically like the back of a horses neck about 20-30 feet tall. They would escort you up to the top via stairs, but you had to ride down by yourself. Of course it was a shiny, razor sharp blade the whole way down so you wound up being sliced in half as you “rode the iron mane”. Anybody else see that one? I have no idea what it was about, but the Iron Mane made an impression!

I remember it. To prove to another King the loyalty of his own men, he had his Wife pick one of his Soldiers to sacrifice himself.

The Wife walked down the ranks of the Soldiers, stopped and whispered to the man standing in front of her if he trusted in God. He told her he did and he became the “volunteer”.

For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of that Movie though.

I remember a particularly scary episode of Tarzan Matinee Theatre
where two trees were pulled together,
a person tied to the trees,
then the rope cut, ripping the person in two!

I also remember the Iron Mane, horrifying...

The movie was called The Long Ships and the device was called The Mare of Steel. I haven't seen that movie since I was kid also. I remember it because I always liked Richard Widmark. The movie is set during the Viking era.
