There’s a more basic issue. It’s the criteria used by those that do watch the debates. Just because a conservative thinks Gingrich won a debate does not mean that someone else will.
Actually, I believe the real problem is how "fair" the debate would be:
"Mr. Obama, how would you grade the remarkable job you've done in getting us out of the horrendous recession you inherited from the Republicans?"
"Mr. Gingrich, can you explain what was your thinking when you brought the country to the brink of ruin by shutting down the government while you were Speaker of the House?"
For much of the Lame Stream Media, the above would be valid questions to raise at such a debate, IMHO.
