LOL, who was the old hippie that said eating trees would make you live forever, I think he is in the same place as the doc that said starving yourself helped also.

" LOL, who was the old hippie that said eating trees would make you live forever, I think he is in the same place as the doc that said starving yourself helped also. "

well, when i was a young hippie the vegetarians looked down on the "meat eaters"

the vegans looked down on the vegetarians

the fruitarians looked down on the vegans (because tearing a carrot out of the soil was so *violent*)

the free fall fruitarians looked down on the regular fruitarians (because free-fallen fruit is "given up willingly" by the tree, picking fruit from the tree is "raping" the tree)

and then there were the breatharians, who contended they actually got all of their necessities for the body by breathing, smelling flowers, and laying in the sun...needing no food...supposedly

and because the breatharians couldn't get along, a "minimalist breatharian" movement began...they believed the population explosion would get so severe, that one day there wouldn't be enough air for everybody, so not only did they try to live on air, but they tried to breathe as little as possible, because it was selfless considerate and holy to prepare for the day the world would run out of air to breathe (?!) so they had to learn to take as little air as possible and convince other people to give up their air-hoggish ways...and also, of course, because it let them look down on "ordinary" breatharians and everybody else

then one day investigative reporters followed the guru of the "minimalist breatharian" movement from a convention center, his pockets full of cash donations, to a motel where he ordered pizza, and they did an ambush interview on him at a diner having pancakes for breakfast, and it seemed that whole house of cards fell in about 24hrs. believe it or not, those movements all existed in and around the early 70's and probably still have the odd follower...on that "trading housewives" show a breatharian just about made a family revolt when she tried to get them to smell flowers in lieu of dinner...i joined the red meat and a gallon of coffee a day movement...we don't look down on anybody, we just outlive them...lol
