Growth fueled by rising tide against Obama, economy, immigration issues.

CNN) - The number of anti-government groups in the United States grew dramatically in 2011 for a third year, fueled by a rising tide against President Barack Obama, the struggling economy and illegal immigration, a report released Thursday finds.

The three-year trend amounts to an "astounding" 755 percent growth since 2008, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center report "The Year in Hate & Extremism: The Patriot Movement Explodes."

The report attributes the growth to "superheated fears generated by economic dislocation, the changing racial makeup of America, and the prospect of four more years under a black president who many on the far right view as an enemy to their country."

Since its start in 1994, the so-called Patriot Movement has fluctuated in size based on political events -- peaking in 1996 after the Oklahoma City bombing before fading to relative obscurity in 2000, according to the report. Its most recent rise can be traced to late 2008 -- the start of the economy's collapse and the election of Obama as president.

"Even as most of the nation cheered the election of the first black president that November, an angry backlash developed that included several plots to murder Obama," the report says. "Many Americans, infused with populist fury over bank and auto bailouts and a feeling that they had lost their country, joined Patriot groups."

The Patriot Movement? This is now hate/extremist?

Wow, you mean the desire to abolish the EPA, get people off of food stamps, stop spending billions on bankrupt “green” energy companies and mandating the building of cars that no one will buy is hate and extremist?

So be it. I am an extremist.

Pravda has been okay. For example, they have given good coverage to the forged birth certificate and to the eligibility scandal in general.

Anti-government groups? Do they mean anti-Constitutional groups...I doubt it. In fact, I presume the opposite.

Let me guess the top ten in no particular order:
1. RNC
2. Libertarians
3. Catholics
4. Freepers
5. NRA
6. Heritage Foundation
7. CPAC
8. Christian “evangelicals”
9. Fox News
10. Rush 24/7 members

It seems they are in panic mode. When their rhetoric becomes this much over-the-top, you know they are getting worried. I am considering this a good sign (for extremists like you....and me). It is an indication that their message is failing.

I would not put any faith in anything published by the SLPC. Figures that CNN would run with it.

OTOH, if you back a freedom loving American into a corner and keep slapping him (or her), sooner or later they are going to slap back. That’s just human nature - something libtards will never understand.

SPLC came up with these exact same talking points prior to the OKC bombing in 1995, which saved Bill Clinton's presidency, and again prior to the attempted fertilizer car bomb in NYC in 2010.

In 2010, just days before the attempted car bombing in NYC, Media Matters put out talking points to the MSM to compare the Tea Party to a bunch of Tim McVeigh wanna-be’s.

Following the attempted car bombing in NYC, the MSM said see see see! we were right. The Tea Party is a bunch of Tim McVeigh wanna-be’s.

Then it turned out to be a muslim and the MSM shut up.

The fact that the talking points prepared for the MSM by Media Matters prior to the NYC attempted bombing was so specific, it's impossible for me to believe it was just a coincidence.

There's a terrorist attack coming down the pike.

I believe these groups can be more appropriately named as:

anti-tyranny

anti-Marxist

anti-globalist

pro-constitution

pro-sovereignty

pro-liberty

pro-We-The-People

patriots

“Anti-government” is just another effort by the SPLC and other subversive forces to define us and define the debate to their own liking. Fluke them.

They can call it "anti-government", I'll call it "pro-Ccnstitution".

Ayn Rand kept saying in the 50's: 'check your premises'. Never, never, never let the elites, RINO's, dinosaur media set the template. Re-set the question and answer the right question.

Newt knows how to do this, every friggin' conservative/libertarian has to learn this. Every one.

the Southern Poverty Law Center report "The Year in Hate & Extremism:

A racist, extremist organization publishes a report on racism, extremism, and hate. Seems fitting. I wonder how prominently THEY are featured in their own findings ...

Anyone else notice this?

I'm not sure if it's irony, or just plain sad.
