Palin on Newt: ‘I’m glad he’s staying in it’ (Sarah to Rick: "Oh, Boo-hoo!")

Sarah Palin gave another not-quite-endorsement of Newt Gingrich this evening, praising his decision to stay in the primary even though he's only won his home state of Georgia today.

"I'm glad he's staying in it," Palin said of Gingrich on Fox News this evening. Asked about Rick Santorum's contention that Gingrich is dividing the conservative, anti-Romney vote, Palin dismissed the complaint. "Oh, boo-hoo," she said.

Of course they all want one another to drop out, but I don't support that idea." "At this point, it doesn't make any sense for anyone to drop out and concede that he can't be the nominee," she also said, before reiterating her position that competition is good for the Republican primary.

Michigan was lost to early voters, they voted before Rick’s 3-state sweep.

The huge “trifecta” of non binding/uncommitted delegate caucuses?

Your headline is misleading at best. She didn’t say “Oh boo-hoo” to Santorum. She said it to the interviewer.

You’re joking, right?

Not sure if you are a Romney guy or not but the only way Mittens can win is if his opposition splits 3 ways. Newt can stay in till the end of the month without causing too much harm and if he endorses Santorum just in time for the “Winner take all” states that will start in April we will be ok. If he gives all his delegates to Santorum we have a chance to beat Romney. I can’t even think of any other way forward to win this thing. Do you really think Newt can compete after tonight? Look anywhere outside of GA & SC.

It’s still shaking out, but it looks like Newt will win more delegates. It also looks like Rick has blown his second big lead when he had a chance to deal Romney a big blow. I’m not sure how much he was up in Ohio, but it’s being called a collapse.

He didn’t blow two big leads - Romney has been nonstop with is nasty ads - just like he did with Newt in FL. Rick held his own much better than Newt did in MI and OH. Some people are not too bright.

You’re right. Some people aren’t too bright. Newt barely campaigned in either Michigan or Ohio, and Rick did blow leads in both states (9 pts in Mich and at least 10 in Ohio). In fact, I’d call what happened in Ohio a collapse.

In Michigan, Romney won because of the absentee vote. Either the polls were wrong, or Romney managed to get his supporters to vote absentee in large numbers.

I think Rick should withdraw immediately for the good of the party.

Rick NEVER does anything good for the party..are you dreaming? Rick is and has always been about Rick. Hey did he ever get any more congressional endorsements that the handfull he's manged to scrape off the floor? Wasn't more than you could count on your hand last I saw.
