(Georgetown,DC) - Am I the only one at Georgetown who is not upset with Rush right now?
His comments regarding Sandra Fluke, third year Law student at Georgetown University, are less outrageous when viewed in the real context of the debate on Obama’s mandate for religious institutions to include contraceptive coverage in their healthcare plans.
Fluke, in her own testimony before a Democratic panel, pointed out that the University covered birth control pills when used for the treatment of a medical condition. This is the key to understanding Limbaugh’s comments. When used for medicinal purposes and healthcare, Georgetown has no problem covering the expense of birth control under their insurance plan. Fluke’s complaint was based on the fact that it was not covered for the use as a contraceptive, which would violate the Catholic church’s beliefs.
Limbaugh’s statements were not that much of a stretch. He might have been a tad hyperbolic in making his point, but this is how he earns a living. Whether or not you agree with the way he phrased his argument, he may have a point.
Of course, no one wants to actually talk about that aspect of the issue. They would rather make this an unneeded debate about contraception rather than admit this is about religious liberty.
Limbaugh, in his attempt to focus the debate back on the actual issue at hand, has been demonized by...well, just about everybody.
President Obama went so far as to call Fluke and offer his support. Meanwhile, DC residents are paying almost $5 a gallon for gasoline. Good thing he has his priorities straight.
There have been calls from all levels of Democrats, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), for all Republicans to condemn Limbaugh’s comments. Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (D- NY) wrote a letter to Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) saying, “the Republicans have a special obligation to condemn the atrocious and hurtful words spoken by Mr. Limbaugh.”
Apparently, now everyone has to actively seek out and apologize for comments other people make, regardless of whether or not they agree with them, if the offender shares a similar ideology. Where does this line of reasoning take us? Should all Baptists have to make public statements that they do not agree with the actions of Westboro Baptist Church?
That would be ridiculous. Just like the outrage over Limbaugh’s criticism of Fluke. I might be in the minority on my campus, but I agree with Rush.

I see. It seems to me German is a language that has many words either to describe one thing depending on the context or situation. Now ‘’fluch’’ is ‘’curse’’ and “Hexen’’is ‘’witch’’, right? Ergo in English to put the ‘’hex’’ on somebody is to ‘’curse’’ them? Also it seems German doesn’t use the Latin prefix ‘’anti-’’ but instead it use’s the word ‘’abwehr’’ or ‘’against’’. So ‘’anti-aircraft’’ become ‘’fliegerabwehrkannone’’ or ‘’flying against cannon’’?
why would I want to read the insurance policy offered to Georgetown student? That sounds like one of the last things I’d care to read.

Wow. A complex language! It would appear to me then that as in the Romance languages the ‘’a’’ prefix denotes some kind of action in German? Like ‘’abstand(en)’’, stand back’’, ‘’antwort’’, ‘’answer’, ‘angriff’’, ‘’attack’’ and so on?

The irony is we don’t what her sexual behavior is about. She could be asexual. We do know, however, as an activist, she voluntarily portrayed herself as parasitic slut. That was her choice.
I didn’t go to college so I don’t know how common it is for colleges and universities to provide health insurance for their students. I can understand providing insurance for university employees, but is it common practice to provide it for their students as well? I thought as long as they were full time students they could stay on their parents’ insurance through age 26.

I once knew a ***VERY*** conservative Roman Catholic woman who had to be on the Pill for medical reasons. She was quite embarrassed about that and wished it weren't necessary. She was fully aware of the abortifacient potential of the Pill, which was irrelevant at the time because she was not sexually active, but she was not sure what she would do when she got married. I lost track of her years ago but recently learned she is married and has a large family, so presumably she decided to stop using the Pill once she married.
Such cases exist though they are obviously a small minority of those who use the Pill. The problem is that the exceptions can become major points used against us by the liberals if we're not careful.
Actually, this was a political setup for the giant "War Against Women" scream-meme (Liars!).
And now that Nancy Pelosi's hand is shown moving the pawn, we know whose deal this is.
Horrible comments about female conservative politicians are not unheard of among liberals. Let's call on Republicans who have attacked Limbaugh to use their political power to demand that liberals criticize liberals who bash conservative women.
There are some feminists who are reasonable and will agree that conservative women should not be called the things they have been called. The results could get interesting.
