Rush defused the situation by apologizing. He had no choice. Now when Republicans are hammered about Rush's comments, they can say he sincerely apologized, and it's time to move on...
Yep. I agree with this. I think both the sponsor issues and the fact that the candidates and the congressional leaders were being forced to deal with this at the end of last week, both had a lot to do with this. The sponsors that folded were going to fold, but he can make those up quickly. He needed to pull back to help get this back to the issue at hand for the elections...government power out of control. He unfortunately let this become the distraction the left was looking for to make it about women and not about government, so he pulled back and refocused his message while the spotlight is on to the real issues at hand.
I was shocked to see his statement Saturday, but do not hold it against him.
Who is going to hammer them? Every damn one I heard spent as much time hammering Rush as the Democrats did.
Would someone please tell me, how in God's name do the Republican hope to defeat Obama this fall? By piling on Limbaugh? Not a damn one of them made any mention of the vile names the Democrats and their surrogates call Sarah Palin, Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter et al. No, all they did was pile on.
99% of the media jumped into the fray when Obama called on them, 100% of the Democrats and about 80% of the Republicans. 100% of the Republican leadership.
As my tagline suggests, after a lifetime membership in the perpetual minority party, NO MORE.
2012 may be the first time since I first voted in 1964 that I will not vote for a single Republican.

You’re dreaming. Rush alienated all those who supported him when he was “taking it to” the left!
You don’t “explain” why you apologized unless you’re getting heat for apologizing.
I stuck with Rush through the drug thing. I’ve been a listener since he guest hosted for Pat Sajack. I had a 24/7 subscription on day one. I got into a half hour debate with the PD of my local TV station when they dropped him.
As of Saturday, I cancelled my subscription, erased his app from my iPhone, and deleted him from iTunes. When I get around to it, I’ll erase his web page from my favorites, too.
As far as I’m concerned, he’s little different from David Brock.
...and nobody on the left or in the media will listen. That's the problem. He didn't defuse anything. He showed weakness and they will not let it go.
That apology defused nothing....nada
That activist woman is having her day....defiance would have given him a platform to attack back and define that girl as an imposter victim
Now he just twists in the wind like he did something wrong
