With all that ails the nation, Meet the Press host David Gregory actually began his interview with Newt Gingrich by asking him about contraceptives and Rush Limbaugh.
"This is the most fundamental assault on religious liberty in American history despite every effort by the elite media to distort what it's about. It's not about contraceptives... It is about whether a religious institution should be coarsed by the federal government."
"Should the President apologize to all the men and women in uniform who he in fact abandoned when he apologized to religious fanatics in Afghanistan." (snip)

I don’t listen to any radio show, I don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh and I don’t care what he says. I equally don’t think that whatever he says on his show is of national importance.
To invite a presidential candidate and as first question to ask him what he thinks about a radio incident, it’s an outright insult and disrespect shown to the guest.
Newt did right to slap that insolent David Whatseverhisname.
I'm still praying for a pleasant surprise.
Whose apology is more important?
Obama bending over to a savage mob, and ignoring the families of SIX US servicemen assassinated in Afghanistan by Afghan soldiers, clad and armed with US money, the murders taking place AFTER his despicable apology?
Or a radio commentator’s who used a rather strong name-call for a 32-year-old lesbian activist, perpetual “student”, who chose a Catholic University, ONLY in order to bash it?
You decide.
It reminds me of the movie “Gladiator”, when the old Proximo, said to Maximus, “Rome is a Mob. In order to win your freedom, you have to win-over the Mob. For he who controls the Mob, controls Rome!”
Newt neutered Gregory.
I don’t understand why you people think Rush is that important. He isn’t. Sometimes here I read excerpts of his transcripts, and most often than not, he’s speaking before thinking about many issues, he doesn’t take the time to analyze them.
OK, he has a very loud voice, but that’s about all.
I don’t need anyone to tell me what to think about any event. I don’t need pundits. I use my own brain for that.
If you don’t care what he says and don’t listen to him, why are you spending so much time telling us you don’t. Guess what, nobody cares what you say.
Rush has done more for conservatism than you can ever hope to.
I haven’t spent much time. Just 5 seconds.
Now, go back to your sand box.
but how do you know anything if you don't listen to what they have to say? facts and arguments are presented. we are not entitled to our own facts.....but we are entitled to our own perspectives. rush doesn't tell us what to think....he presents his own perspective and arguments on existing facts. he's very good at it....that is why he has 20+ million listeners per week.
when you can get 20 million people to listen to your every word that kind makes you standout in a crowd.....don't you think.
[Newt neutered Gregory.]
Yup!
Tared and feathered!
That was a good picture you posted of the “Old” Rush. Reminds me of his late night TV show. I miss it, and it was super great. Which is why I started lisetning to his radio program religiously in ‘92.
“After his opening admonishment, Gingrich said, “There is no debate about access to contraception. There is a debate, which Cardinal George of Chicago has pointed out, is a war against the Catholic Church.”
I will take that farther and say that this is actually a war against all conservative/traditional Christianity - Roman Catholic or not. It just so happens that the RCs make a conveinent target for the time being. Next it will be conservative Baptists, etc.
A long held central belief of Roman Catholics is being violated by the “state” (U.S. Government) and it cannot be allowed to continue. IF they can attack the Roman Catholics then the rest of us Christians will be attacked as well eventually. This Baptist stands side by side with Roman Catholics in demanding this assault on religious liberty cease. The “state” (U.S. Government) has no business under the rule of law (U.S. Constitution) to force Christians (of any stripe) to violate their long held religious convictions. The First Ammendment was designed to protect “religion” from the “state.” Also, to ensure that no “state” mandated/financed religious body (AKA Church of England) would be started in the United States as was in England.
This attack on Roman Catholic belief is a direct violation of the 1st Ammendment. It cannot be allowed to be continue unopposed.
