Why would anyone agree to stop that if thats what one truly believes?
People have said the exact same thing about Mormonism dozens of times over their brief existence on topics such as:
- Polygamy: the new and "everlasting" covenant ... abandoned in 1890 ... and in 1906 ... and in 1923 ... or whenever
- The United Order: communism to be implemented until the Second Coming ... dumped in 1838 after it failed in favor of the Law of Tithing
- The Curse of Cain: forever excluding Blacks from the priesthood ... until it became a political hot potato and was "revised" in 1978 due to political pressure
- The Lamanite Curse: proclaiming American Indians to be "a dark, a filthy, and a loathsome people" ... until the scripture was changed about the same time that the Curse of Cain was forgotten
- The Temple Ceremony: wherein Satan was worshiped as the "god of this world," Christian pastors were condemned as "dimwitted hirelings of Satan," and Blood Oaths were sworn ... dictated by Mormonism's god to directly to Joseph Smith and never to be changed ... altered several times over the years, most recently in 1990
- The site of the Second Coming: at the temple lot in Independence, Missouri ... or at Adam-ondi-Amman, Missouri ... or at Salt Lake City ... or wherever
- The Book of Mormon: translated directly from golden plates using peep stone glasses so there could be no possible mistake ... then inspected by the Angel Moroni who pronounced it "the most correct of any book on earth" ... with thousands of changes
- The Book of Commandments / Doctrine and Covenants: an even holier sacred scripture dictated to Joseph by Mormonism's god ... therefore perfect and without error (or at least as perfect as Mormonism's god) ... containing thousands of "corrections" ... not to mention dozens of contradictions between it and other sacred LDS scripture ... books which are supposed to be unimpugnable which nevertheless impugn themselves
Personally, I'm looking forward to the day when a Mormon religious leader such as Bishop Romney can address some of these simple issues.

I’ve alway thought that one of the strangest things was that they stopped the polygamy thing when the state told them to do so. Imagine the state telling Baptists their pastors had to be celibate or Catholics had to accept remarriage after a state divorce. They just would never have done it.
