The big news this week on Capitol Hill was that Democrats are confident of taking back the House. Congressman Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said: Weve gone from a gale force wind against us to a sustained breeze at our backs.
Hmm. That was the Financial Times report.
The Hill report was less windy as it quoted Congressman Israel as saying: Were not there yet, weve got some work to do. But we have gone from a gale-force wind against us last year to a sustained breeze at our back. Ive never said we were going to win 25 seats, 26 seats, Im not saying it now, but I would sign an affidavit, if you put one in front of me, that its going to be razor-close.
Oh?
More from Congressman Israel: One of the reasons Speaker Pelosi asked me to chair the DCCC is because of my experience with moderate, independent voters Those are the districts weve got to win I hate the labels, but soccer moms, independent, fairly affluent suburban districts, thats our sweet spot.
His Long Island, N.Y., district was held by a Republican before he won it.
There is just one problem.
Those soccer moms of yore are going through menopause and those soccer kids are living in the basement.
Its the economy stupid.

Does not look like the republican presidential candidates have any coatails. Could be a problem.
Those soccer moms of yours are going through menopause and those soccer kids are living in the basement
perfect, just perfect! being breitbart
I have come to believe that “moderate” and “independent” always means one thing : pro-abortion. Hence the mention of soccer moms.
But the soccer moms have gotten older. Many more people have now seen ultrasound videos of a fetus with a beating heart. Nobody believes in the “blob of cells” lie anymore. And yes, those former soccer moms now see their college age children unable to get a decent job.
Much higher prices for necessities will trump the moderates issue this fall.
Outside of the places we know he will do well do you think obumbler has coattails? Exactly the opposite i think.
They have been "playing" with themselves so much, they have strained their tiny brains. Ain't goin' to happen.
Take back the House? Democrats wish
With Boehner as the alleged House “leader”, what’s the difference?
I can't see Romney standing up and effectively saying 'conservative troops, rally around me.'
I can see the old war horse Gingrich, rallying the GOP voters with his call to join the second conservative revolution led by him.
Pretty much sums it up. Add the negative coattails of the probable GOP nominee, add redistricting games where the GOP will not benefit as once thought, and you have a perfect storm that will enable Pelosi to regain the speakership. November 2010 may have been the high water mark of the grass roots tea party movement. Both established parties are not about to allow that to happen again.
Super Tuesday will reveal the trend for sure.
Looking at the American electorate from the viewpoint of a conservative is wishful thinking. We knew enough about Obama to see what we were getting before 2008. Yet He's what we got. Tell me what you know about him now that you didn't in 2008.
What i know, what you and the people here know is little more than we did. I do believe the number people that understand just how stupid and inept he is has grown.
