I think that Rush was probably feeling some heat from Clear Channel. Also, perhaps the other advertisers probably wanted something “out there” on the record, so if there is some sort of legal action by Fluke and the Media Matters/Democratic campaign organizers that they have some way to fight back.
In the end, I think this is more about money. They won’t shut him up forever and people tend to forget these things with the next news cycle. If anything, this should garner him even more listeners, so I don’t think he will lose much here. At this moment, the advertisers that left are under attack for doing so. The other ones are holding pat to see what other fallout comes their way.
The left will suck as much as they can from this and then move on to the next kabuki theater moment IMHO.
Maybe we should be looking at the Hacktivists following this author. Might be interesting.
