I just was just wondering today what would happen if the church decided to go Galt.
if the bishops went “galt”, the hippies in the “middle management” including the trendier than thou nuns would bolt and quickly secularize the hospitals and schools that they can legally own (many are legally owned by the nuns orders, not the bishops...all the bishops can do is insist they follow Catholic rules or lose the designation “Catholic”, as has happened in that Arizona hospital that did an abortion...they didn’t repent, they just left the church).
You have to realize that these aging “reformers” are up against not only the bishops but the younger priests and new orders of sisters.
The Vatican was once asked why didn’t they just throw the heretics out, and they said there was the danger of schism...and pointed out that a little more patience with Luther might have averted the splintering of Christianity while allowing true reform of the church.
