So let me get this straight. As long as Rush sells his soul to appease his sponsors, he’ll be able to stay on the air so he can...um..sell his soul to appease his sponsors. Good plan there, Socrates.
Well, EXCUSE ME, for asking for clarification of what it was that you meant.
(I actually do get nasty sometimes with people who offend me, but I don't think you had done this prior to this post of yours. I'm a bit surprised.)
ML/NJ
We (the good guys) have to be realistic and rational about the times we are living in. We all know that the left can call conservatives every and any name in the book with no consequences because the libs own the media. Conservatives can not. Until VIA elections we stack the deck once again in our favor we have to choose our battles and live to fight another day. We’ve already lost Brietbart, Coulter is a nutcase now, we really can’t afford to lose Rush too. What he did was diffuse a worsening situation. Better that than let this slut keep gaining more and more exposure and letting the left control the debate. They wanted an apology. Fine they got one. Now what? If they keep beating the drum it will only hurt them.
It was IMO a half-assed apology anyway. He did only as Mich as he had to to get this shit over with.
We have bigger battles to fight. We have to win elections and fundamentallly change the damage that has been done. Then apologies won’t be necessary.
“Without insurance coverage, contraception can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school. For a lot of students who, like me, are on public interest scholarships, thats practically an entire summers salary. Forty percent of female students at Georgetown Law report struggling financially as a result of this policy...
...In the media lately, conservative Catholic organizations have been asking: what did we expect when we enrolled at a Catholic school? We can only answer that we expected women to be treated equally, to not have our school create untenable burdens that impede our academic success. We expected that our schools would live up to the Jesuit creed of cura personalis, to care for the whole person, by meeting all of our medical needs. We expected that when we told our universities of the problems this policy created for students, they would help us. We expected that when 94% of students opposed the policy, the university would respect our choices regarding insurance students pay for completely unsubsidized by the university, especially when the university already provides contraceptive coverage to faculty and staff. We did not expect that women would be told in the national media that if we wanted comprehensive insurance that met our needs, not just those of men, we should have gone to school elsewhere, even if that meant a less prestigious university. We refuse to pick between a quality education and our health, and we resent that, in the 21st century, anyone thinks its acceptable to ask us to make this choice simply because we are women.”
No, she did NOT say, “I personally need $1000/year for my sex.” However, when she says “WE” and “LIKE ME”, the implication is that her testimony is personal.
You can disagree if you wish, but perhaps Rush’s apology should have been, “I need to apologize to Ms Fluke. She never said SHE needed $1000/year for sex - just that 40% of Georgetown female students do. Apparently, it isn’t Ms Fluke who needs lots of sex, but nearly half of Georgetown’s female students. She merely implied she was one of those with ‘needs’!”
You wrote: “If someone NEEDS sex 1,000+ times a year, what are they? presumes $1.00/birth control/horizontal bop which I think remains to be shown...”
See here:
At 33 cents/condom, I arguably underestimated the NEEDS of the Georgetown sluts. I sincerely doubt most men use more than 3 condoms/sex act...
Of course, what Fluke was arguing was that birth control pills - name brand, not the $9/month no-name variety - are essential for women’s health, and that it is such an essential need that other people need to pay the bill. And I think it is obvious that Fluke KNEW her testimony was misleading:
“You might respond that contraception is accessible in lots of other ways. Unfortunately, thats not true. Womens health clinics provide vital medical services, but as the Guttmacher Institute has documented, clinics are unable to meet the crushing demand for these services. Clinics are closing and women are being forced to go without.”
She knew damn well that birth control pills ARE available for free or at very minimal cost.
Well said.
Not at all. Rush knew what a Saturday afternoon apology would do. He’s just another “snake oil” salesman.
LOL
You know what the difference is between limbaugh and maher? The entire media is owned by the liberal leftist cabal. No one cares if palin is called the c word. But rush must be silenced.
Do you know any f’ing other American who has his mail x rayed daily??? For good reason??
Sorry to swear. I’m upset.
The thing that pi$$es me off the most about folks on our side, is some of us are way to eager to throw our own under the bus, or turn our guns on them if they show a little weakness under pressure. If the Marines or the Army did that there would be no one left to fight. We who are conservative need to support each other as a team, and if one of us does start to bend, then we need to lift that person up and do what we can to support them so they don't ultimately fail. Eating our own is not a smart and constructive way to achieve ultimate victory.
There's no doubt Rush works his @$$ off gathering information and doing research for his show prep so he can bring us excellence in broadcasting on a daily basis. I'm willing to bet having the highest radio talk show is not nearly as easy as Rush makes it seem. If Rush let me have a try at the golden EIB mike for a day, I'm guessing it would be the most boring three hours of broadcasting in radio history.
Rush isn't perfect and neither are we, so put the damn stones down, and aim your rhetorical rifles at the left, who are the real enemies.
Rush's business is political commentating. He does it in an entertaining way.
It's the left that minimizes Rush's political commentary by calling him an "entertainer".
Now you do it.
If someone NEEDS sex 1,000+ times a year, what are they?
Is 1,000 times a year really too much?
I’m sticking with Rush. $leep Train, Quicken Loan$, and the other $lut-$upporting adverti$er$ can ki$$ my bu$ine$$ goodbye.
Your screen name suits you well.
I think you are missing the forest for the trees.
Read what she actually said.
I’m quite sure that S&P probably said to him: You are slandering her because there is nothing in her testimony before Congress that specifies what her actual sexual behavior is, and you have to retract.
I don’t blame him for having to do this. I think he was sloppy from the start. He’s just have to clean up the mess now.
If he lost any sponsors, he'd replace them almost instantly. He'll not lose any/many listeners, so he'll have sponsors. Monday tune in will be a tad on the huge side.
It chafes me merely to ponder it.
And no, I'm not that old.
Not one dimes worth of difference. Both are media sluts.
I guessing it is probably because it was utter BS.
Just like most of the posts on this thread.
