We too had a sleep number. also hated it. We sold it the day after we bought it (got it from someone who said “they didn’t need it”. I suspect they hated it too)

It was a queen. All the foam around the actual bladder made it IMPOSSIBLE to sleep on. My wife likes a soft bed, I like a firm one.

Every morning we had that bed I’d find myself on my wife’s side because once I got to close to the middle it would suck me in (her side was lower/softer)

We now have a Simmons his and hers (I think that is the model) her side is soft, mine is firm. It’s still a bit of a problem if I get to close to her side as the soft side will suck me in, but my side is much larger considering there is no air bag or 12 inches of foam around it.

We both love it.

Sounds like her side has a gravity well problem the size of a small black hole! LOL!

My wife & I don't like our queen size sleep number either. It's fundamentally two side by side air mattresses with a remote control. If you don't both like the same setting, it's horrible. The firm partner rolls off their rock and "falls into" the soft partner's side. Even slight temperature variations throughout the day/night can vary the firmness significantly. When the firm side partner inevitably falls into the soft side, the soft side gets much harder as well - basic physics, gravity & pressure due to air mattress "technology." All around - air mattresses are a bad idea for a daily bed (ok for camping - that's about it), especially one with two occupants that don't want to sleep miles away from one another - in which case - get dual singles instead.
