Favorite son Newt Gingrich now holds a double-digit lead over his closest rival in the Georgia Republican Primary race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters in Georgia shows Gingrich with 38% support to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s 26%. Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum now runs third with 20% of the vote, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul trails with seven percent (7%). Three percent (3%) prefer another candidate, and six percent (6%) remain undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

This Georgia survey of 750 Likely Republican Primary Voters was conducted on March 1, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology. With this solid lead, (and Romney and Rick not campainging in GA) hopefully Newt can extend his campaign into Tenn and Okla in the next few days.

He can pick up Miss and Ala next week-- Perry says he can deliver Texas. New SuperPac in Texas formed today.

Newt Skywalker will rise again.

(Seems like Rick wasted a day in Ga yesterday, when his numbers are slipping in Ohio, according to Ras.)

If the Tenn and Oklahoma polls are right and Santorum has a double-digit lead in both states, it’s hard to believe these states are occupied by Southerners. And I think both are right to work states and Ricky is a union man. Wonder how he lies and convinces anti-union voters he’s one of them.

Both these polls were conducted by 2 universities- and they included over 50 DEM sampling. Both were taken before Rick’s fade. (He’s lost 8 pts in Ga since Migh, according to Ras)

Now, it’s an open primary so Dems can vote. So, maybe the polls are accurate- but let’s see what Ras or Mason Dixon has to say.

I wonder if this poll included a head-to-head between Romney and Gingrich.

Interestingly RCP hasn’t updated their GA primary numbers to reflect the March 1 Rasmussen survey.

However, the RCP Ohio primary numbers do reflect a March 1 Rasmussen survey.

Seems the fickle GOP voters have changed direction again.

So much for the inevitability of Santorum.

Exactly Today it seems Newt is Rising while Santorum is slipping. Just yesterday it was the other way.

Listen to the Candidates pick the one you can support make your best decision on what is important to you and your family then vote quit worrying about the DAMN polls.

I refuse to take part in the Circle firing squad any longer.

I support Newt many others on here support Santorum. That is our right.

At some point Newt and Santorum have to sit down One on One without the Voters, Press, or Advisers and decide how they proceed against Mittens. Then Against Obammy.

Seems Georgia is the only state with any SENSE.

Praying that Newt can build momentum into the following states ...

Like Santorum as a person — but the guy would get SO creamed in the general election — it would be pitiful. As would Romney.

My own theory: a lot of Santorum voters, albeit nice people, REALLY don’t have a lot of contact with the rest of the real world. I WORK around the real world type people — libs, independents, and political ignoramuses ... they hate Santorum with a venomous passion.

Yes, we “like” him ..but he’s NOT going to beat anyone. They dislike Newt, but they will listen to him at least, and respect him somewhat. Newt will offer a STARK choice and contrast to the Thug.

If Santorum had been allowed to die on the vine in February we’d have a winnable two-man race going into Super Tuesday. Instead the “Holy Rick Rollers” decided to split the conservative vote. I’m still not sure what the logic is. Something like, “Romney was able to knock Gingrich into 2nd place in Florida with attack ads, so let’s move to a new candidate, so that Romney can knock him into 2nd place with attack ads too.” Is that going to be the strategy in the general election too? Give up after about a week of your candidate being attacked with attack ads as opposed to trying to defend them and fight back?

Okla. is a right to work state. Which may account for some a new breed of voters moving in, along with Tinker AFB transferring in and out.

We at the base are still conservatives, not sure what is going on. Except we are also in the Bible Belt and evangelicals take Rick seriously.

That is what gets me, and is it so dumb. Yes, I am a christian, but I am also an AMERICAN who is watching this country go down the drain. No one, and I mean No one as a Christian President can lead us out of our ruin, just on Christianity alone.

If Jesus himself were still walking the earth, HE would not be involved in politics.

There is nothing a Christian President can do, that will stop BAD PARENTING. Santorum can't do that for you.

It is time people understood this. I am not electing a Pastor, minister, etc., I have that.

I have been in some of these evangelistic churches, and see the young girls dressed like SLUTs, and you parents who call yourself evangelicals think this is proper? If a father does not know how to lead his own household, he is worse that an infidel. Fix you own house first, you are the spiritual leader there. Gov't can't help you. Grow up and think.

Good golly Miss Molly: stop the insanity. THINK and VOTE NEWT GINGRICH who has the brain that GOD gave him and can use it.

Instead the “Holy Rick Rollers” decided to split the conservative vote.

That is not even logical. Had Newt been out of the race in Michigan, Santorum would have won. Newt is splitting the conservative vote. Tell me what state Newt would have won if Santorum was not in? There are states where Santorum would have won if Newt was not in.
