March 1, 2012 Santorum Declares Georgia In Play
By Craig Schneider and Aaron Gould Sheinin The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum swept into Georgia Thursday searching for votes in a state that could be ripe for the picking.
Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, has moved into a solid second place in the state, according to recent polling, and said he believes he can shock the political world in the state's primary on Tuesday.
"There will be no bigger surprise than if on Super Tuesday Rick Santorum is the winner of the Georgia primary," Santorum said to about 100 supporters in a hangar at Peachtree-DeKalb Airport, where he campaigned following an event in Dalton. Afterward he boarded a plane bound for Washington state.
But, over the course of a 45-minute speech in Atlanta, Santorum focused squarely on contrasting himself with Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor against whom he is battling for the lead nationally. Here in Georgia, Santorum leads Romney is recent polling but trails former Georgia congressman Newt Gingrich. Yet, Santorum barely referenced Gingrich.
He said it's difficult to travel to an opponent's home state and win. "There are good people in this race, but this race is narrowing down," he said, in an apparent reference to a two-man race between he and Romney.
"We need the people of Georgia to stand with the conservative," Santorum said.

* Union types crossed over and voted for Rick and Newt and Newt's numbers improved. The Bottom Line? Rick Still didn't pull it off
* The Counties Mitt won? The coveted counties that the someone needs to take the State Electorially.
* Those include Macomb, Wayne and I think Wastenaw.
* IMHO Macomb was critical, if he can't pull that off, where is his Blue Collar Working Man Dem Crossover Cred?
The bottom line? Little Ricky didn't have the cred to pull it off, it was a Red State Blue State matchup within the GOP and no one won.
I'll say it again Newt was brilliant and let these two engage in an Iraq / Iran War where they both got bloodied and no one won.
The Military Strategy Teacher played them and was able to fight on for another day. If he does better than expected on ST, the Santorum fad will fade even more.
Sherman’s March to the Sea
Okay, I was joking with the “damned Yankees” term.
However, I truly believe that both Rick and Mitt have no conception of what the people outside of the Northeast US really are like and what matters to them in terms of values and freedom. ....Both of them have lived their lives in labor union/liberal States and really come across as phonies when they try to pander to Southerners and Texans. They are both snobs of the upper rank, IMO.
lol.... Point made!
I think Newt did go waaaaay overboard on that bit about a Moon base. I believe he was stretching to make his point that the Obama administration should not have shut down NASA regarding our abilities to launch space vehicles and continue to explore near space. ....Instead of being dependant on Russia (at a huge cost) to give us a lift to the space station and bring us back home, I think Newt was just trying to indicate that we should not abandon our own space program capabilities (but he did screw up with the Moon base thing).
So Gracie, you pick your candidate based on his, assets, so to speak. As a female, I am saddened that you make us look dumb.
I don’t think so Ricky. This is Newt country.
Newt didn’t campaign in MI and only got 7% of the vote, but little Ricky couldn’t make even that up even with the help of his robo-call democrat friends. Face it he has a big problem that is only going to get worse.
Last I heard Ricky is campaign hard in GA trying to win the state though he has little chance of dong so. But I am sure he will pull enough votes away from Newt to let Romney get some delegates.
So much for reciprocity.
And the theme of his economic BS is almost word for word, what Newt has already listed in his plan to fix the economy. But Ricky is taking credit for it like he invented the idea first. And he is TALKING about it, and telling everybody how good a Senator he was, how much he did, and how he is the very definition of a conservative. Talk, talk, talk and more TALK!
Copy-and-run-with-it-like-it-was-your-idea-in-the-first-place, Santorum, has been mostly talking, talking and more talking, and if you don't agree with him about what he is talking about, he gets mad and talks even more........
How exciting to have somebody like him, who finally knows that no matter what the outcome, you can at least TALK about it!
