The Democrats I saw interviewed were not Reagan Democrats. They were hardcore union people that thought Santorum would be easier to beat in the general.

That's correct, in fact most of the Reagan Democrats are now Republicans or Conservatives. So the only Democrats interested in Santorum at the moment, are playing him for a stooge.
