I cancelled the comprehensive ($50 every six months) on my 2001 Chrysler 300m that we have owned since it was brand new with 8 miles on it. The car had 150k miles on it and was still in like new condition. Four days after I cancelled the comprehensive, I was following my wife and watched a buck run right into the side of the car. The deer hit the front fender, ripped off the mirror, kicked the bottom of the driver door trying to stay up, spun around and nailed the back door with his butt. This was the result:

We renewed our comprehensive. It's just too cheap, considering the risk around here. It would have totaled the car and given us a minimum of $4,000 to use to get a 4wd truck, which much more fits our lifestyle in the country vs our old life in Seattle. Bummer. Now it's my daily 97 mile commute car. I'm driving it into the ground...

It’s a decision each of us have to make individually, a gamble. You lost unfortunately, but the car is still driveable and you are doing exactly what I would do, drive it till the wheels fall off,or put it on Craigslist for $4,000 and see if you get a customer.
