All they do is practice how to take tests and APPEAR smart.

Yeah, right. "Practicing" for entrance exams and SATs requires some initial information and ability to build upon. No amount of test prep classes will get an average or below average student into Stuyvesant or any other great school unless they get in by affirmative action.

Total BS. I was an indifferent student in highschool but had learned to take a test due to the training of Sister John Thomas at Holy Cross in the 5th and 6th grades

I ate up the SAT and was admitted to UCSD, that's University of San Diego, which is referred to as the "MIT of the west coast" AKA "super school" just on the strength of the SAT. Now I almost flunked out a couple of times but managed to hang in there and graduate. I had to work twice as hard to get the grades but I am thankful for that

To let you know how unprepared I was for this school, I remember when the first time the math prof wrote "Sin_of_X " on the board I thought he was talking about sin in the spiritual realm.

So leave your assumptions about "affirmative action" at the door because they do not apply here.
