I agree with you. I try to read the real arguments and ignore the ad hominen attacks. The people that feel compelled to include insults in their comments cause me to instantly tune out what they say and move my eyes to the next poster. I try to remember that when I post, but don't always succeed.

Well, that’s true of a lot of Newt supporters too, myself included.

We don’t hate Rick, we just don’t think he’s up to the task anywhere near as well as Newt is.

Newt’s supporters do more damage to their candidate than hurt Rick. I’m convinced many of the most rabid Santorum bashers are actually working for Romney. They hatred of “socons” and “Bible thumpers” exposes their RINOism.
