It appears to me that every socialist regime must create its own pliable "people", which constitute the "masses". If you think that what the American welfare state has done to inner-city blacks is terrible, just look at what they've done to young people of all races attending universities and colleges in good faith, only to be intellectually cheated by the elites.
The socialist State can only kill the human spirit - that's what it does to live.
