As I recall, he caught a lot of guff from people for supporting a candidate he'd pretty well savaged. I'd guess he doesn't want to get caught in the same Catch 22 again this year.

Still applies. But, if Romney -- the moderate -- wins the nomination. we can't afford to let him lose, can we?
