The duo was asked to sing background on recording sessions all over New York and to sing demos of other writers’ songs. Quincy Jones hired Ellie to sing background on Lesley Gore’s recordings, and she quickly became the preferred demo singer for many of the top Brill Building composers.

They followed up their initial Raindrops hit with another.
