Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich were now a hot team, and there was a growing demand for their songs. Said Ellie: “At one point in 1963, Jeff and I looked, and we saw that we had seven songs in the Top Twenty. We thought, ‘Oh ... my ... God!’” The two of them, along with Phil Spector, had turned Philles Records into a cash cow. They created something just as exciting for the Crystals in their next outing.

This is the quintessential Spector “Wall of Sound” recording. Note the use of a string section.
