Good bet they didn’t desecrate any German graves.

Good question!

“History is written by the victors.” (WC)

A quick google and all that turns up is a German war memorial building.

Many other good reads.

J Beeley, who had earned a Victoria Cross and later showed me the formal citation and description of his actions recorded from official dispatches and reproduced in the 1950s British Legion handbook. The inscription on the grave reads: “They bade goodbye to the days of peace to die for gains they will not share”.

Bob Bogan a fun read!

We even stunk like terrorists, or oops, Local Nationals, we did not wash our civilian/Arab gear. The dogs did not bark at us or the camels cough and become restless, so we moved unheard, unseen, at night in the back alleys and dirty sewers - squashing thousands of cockroaches as we moved.

“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
