Gingrich pledges energy independence for America

KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, speaking at an eastern Washington campaign stop Thursday, pledged to open federal lands and offshore areas to oil drilling in an attempt to make the United States energy independent.

Several hundred people turned out to hear Gingrich speak in Kennewick, one of south-central Washington's Tri-Cities that are home to the nation's most contaminated nuclear site and thousands of jobs in agriculture.

As he has in recent days, Gingrich focused most of his speech on rising gas prices and energy development. He said that, if elected, he would immediately approve a proposed oil pipeline that would carry Canadian oil produced from tar sands to refineries along the Texas Gulf coast.

"We have a government that is anti-American energy, so they are blocking us from developing ourselves," Gingrich said. "We should become energy independent so that we can bring down the cost of gasoline with a goal of $2.50 per gallon, so people are in a position that they can afford to drive their car."

Energy development will keep $500 billion at home, create millions of new jobs in the United States and improve the standard of living across the whole country, he said.

The former House speaker is in a crowded primary race with Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul, but he is trailing Romney and Santorum in the polls. All four are visiting Washington in advance of the state's nonbinding caucus March 3.

So simple a caveman could do it. As long as it wasn’t a liberal caveman, of course.

The leftists in the media hate him, like they do Palin. They don’t plan for ANY drilling so we can become a stronger economic nation. They use their flagship spin, drilling hurts, nature. If only people, would wake up so we could have our own fuel supplies to where we could tell the blackmailing countries to get a life.

Didn’t we hear this song and dance in the last election?

Remember “Drill Baby Drill”?

Every candidate says the same thing, then does nothing.

Yeah, well Obama won. When was the last time a real Conservative was President? I will give you a hint. His initials were RR. I believe Newt will do it. GO NEWT GO!

Romney, Santorum, and Paul doesn't have a clue what Newt suggest. The three are like school yard children fighting a battle that has no answers to the problem. If Newt is not our candidate, America will be lost. It is so far in the trash now that only a real bull dog can bring it back.

McCain, he would not even call Obama a radical.

Newt will open lands to drilling and agree to Keystone Pipeline.

P.S. Keep saying it Newt; maybe we can drill this is more people's heads, it can be done, a reality for our future, with a conservative. Newt is so cool, he knows what we need while the media plays those got you games.

The higher gas prices go, the more this message will resonate.

It is one of those "gut" issues that the Democrats are so skilled at using, and it's way past time our candidates realize their message MUST first create an emotional reaction, in order to trigger a rational one!
