Some Midwestern State University students, professors and other community members got a chance to play congressional representatives Wednesday during an exercise . . .
This article was on the front page of the Wichita Falls Newspaper today. Mac Thornberry REALLY wants to get re-elected for the 10th(!!!) time. Oh, by the way, he signed Newt's Contract with America for TERM LIMITS when he first got elected --- guess he forgot all about that once he had his place and it was inconvenient to follow through.
Quote the article: "[Dr. Jeremy] Duff [American and Congress political science professor at MSU] said often people think you can just cut this or that, but they don't understand congressmen worry about re-election, affiliations with groups and certain actions that may cause them to lose an election."
This attitude is EXACTLY WHY we are in the shape we are in in this Country right now. If we continue to re-elect people over and over who make their decisions based on how it will help them get re-elected --- HEAVEN HELP US ALL!!!
This is why we need term limits. It’s too lucrative to be a “tenured” member of the legislature.
We also need session limits. Absent a national emergency like Pearl Harbor, Congress should be in session for no more than 30 days per year. At most.
Thornberry is a moron. He’s just another politician and plays the part well. I wouldn’t vote for him again. I guess it could be worse....Kay Yaeger could run....
