BREMERTON, Wash. - All available officers from multiple law enforcement agencies launched a massive manhunt for the person who shot and killed a Washington State Patrol trooper during a traffic stop early Thursday.
The trooper had stopped a pickup around 1 a.m. Thursday on Highway 16 near Gorst and radioed the location and license plate number, said Trooper Russ Winger.

I work with our state’s SHP fairly often (a hazard of the job) and one of my best buddies is a retired SHP. They’re very laid back and calm. It’s an evil person to murder one at a traffic stop. I hope they catch the person soon.
3 Port Orchard schools on modified lockdown...Sidney, Mullenix and Cedar Heights.
Whenever I see a cop helping someone change a tire it is usually a State Trooper getting dirty.
"We know we have a registered owner, and that's all we know," he said.
Officers later towed the truck from the scene. Police also seized a white car found nearby that belongs to someone who may know the suspect.
Officers also said a house near the location where the truck was found has been raided before by state troopers during a drug bust.
Sounds like drug runners. Perhaps they stole this truck.
Report shooter is dead via local news.
Generating revenue for the State. This incident sounds like an illegal alien not wanting to be caught. Let’s hope the Trooper radioed the plate number in before he was shot. Do they use dash cams?
Good. Someone had mentioned hanging earlier in the thread. My immediate thought was “hanging is too good for this guy.”
Praying for him and his loved ones.
LEOs like firefighters, the military, etc, are an elite group of people who agree to put themselves in harm's way, every day. They agree that when there is an armed perp on the loose, they will not barricade themselves in their homes, but will leave positions of safety and go hunt the perp, so he doesn't kill us.
When there are supplies to be delivered to a remote outpost, and IEDs on the road, they still drive that dangerous route, unquestioningly
They agree that when a building is burning, then will not run away, like any “smart’ person would, but will, every time, run into that building to try to save us, and on 9/11, most of them stayed there forever.
And when there are incidents like that, from a simple auto accident to a huge plane crash, or 9/11, who stays around and picks up the bodies... and body parts... They do.
Are they a special class of people? You betcha!
Same here. They do more of that kind of stuff than people know.
Good answer. Anyone who would shoot a cop is a special class of person too, so dangerous that a manhunt ensues to get him off the street RIGHT NOW.
Looks like the perp shot himself...unsuccessfully.

Why are you so bothered by this being “Breaking News”? To us in Western Washington who have felt the pain and loss of so many of our Officers being murdered over the last few years, it is very much important for us to learn when this happened again.
Good thought. If he was willing to take out an LEO, we’re nothing... which is why I legally carry 24/365.
RIP.
Nope, just a typo with my fat fumble fingers hitting the caps and not letting it off quickly enough before hitting the “e”...and then not proofing it beofre hitting the post button.
I’m sure the Dept of Justice will avert their eyes to this and imagine that their activities in this state have not contributed to the rapid increase in violent crime and possibly this murder of a Trooper.
