we can but you wont..mister humane
I’d be willing to be that if the military were assigned to guard the border, they’d have secured within a year and it wouldn’t take that many men, relatively speaking to do the job.
I recall Border Patrol chief, Halon Carter was on one of the Sunday morning News shows back around 1970. The moderators or commentators seemed to all take it for granted that the border could not be secured.
Carter said it was no problem, the powers that be had purposely kept the Border Patrol’s numbers low so they couldn’t do the job. He said if they would give him the resources, he would stop illegal immigration cold.
No, but neither does Sarah Palin, Rick Perry or any other conservative support just kicking them out.
What Gingrich does support is a pathway to citizenship that allows only the committed to become citizens. Like, making it conditional on learning English to fluent proficiency.
Our Government cannot stop illegals when the President is doing everything in his power to encourage it.
Put me in charge and give me the troops I will stop it.
Just bury them where they fall, they will get the message soon enough.
You ain’t a kidding....even banana republics with a minute fraction of the resource of the USA control their borders.
Lead poisoning is a pretty substitute for a No Trespassing sign.

Yeah and I support making bank robbery legitimate on the condition that the robber demonstrate that he can make a budget and balance his checkbook.
Eisenhower didn’t have any problem with deporting them. He also successfully did just that.
Sounds like extra work. Forget that part, and let the pile be above ground. Makes the message that much more powerful.
So nobody emigrated to America during Eisenhower’s mandate?
I assume you mean illegally.
I have no idea what the rate of wetback immigration was back then. I do know Eisenhower sent them home by the millions.
Yes, I do make a distinction between illegal and legal immigration.
I don’t have a problem with sending illegals back home, by the millions either.
Hey bone, I like how you think but this problem demands a multi-pronged approach. Firstly, take the $4Billion in aid to Mexico and reduce it by $10K per alien detained within 100 miles of the border. $100K for each smuggler (dope or human). Mexico would lock the border down from their side over night instead of distributing leaflets instructing crossers on topics like, surviving in the desert and how to avoid U.S. Border Patrol and other Law Enforcement entities. With a couple hundred thousand apprehensions a year in Tucson Sector alone, that $4B would be eaten up pretty fast. One thing the Mexican government loves and needs is the U.S. Dollar.
The easiest way to secure the border is to tell the Mexican government that we are going to withdraw from Nafta and end all trade with Mexico.
The Mexican economy would collapse without the US economy and the Mexicans would put up their own Berlin Wall up to prevent it from happening.
Now, can we find some way to control Mitt Romney’s mouth?
Yes, but the Buzzards roosting in the neighborhood are a nuisance.
How about the maze of tunnels that are under the border. The majority of drugs and illegals are crossing in tunnels.
