Big ideals = Big Spending
Big spending? This thread is about Newt, not Rick “I wrote laws with Barbara Boxer and Hillary Clinton” Spendtorum.
Wow, take you long to come up with that?
Newt has a proven record of getting things done day one, how about your guy?
I’ve posted this before but here is what Newt did on his FIRST DAY as Speaker January 5th, 1994:
- Led passage of nine reforms (they said he couldnt/wouldnt get any but he got all nine)
- Eliminated three committees.
- Eliminated twenty five subcommittees.
- Eliminated more than six hundred congressional jobs called LSOs and he didnt pick and choose which ones, he eliminated ALL of them. A savings to the tax payers of nearly 35 million dollars.
It was billed as the longest first day in the history of the house (til 2:00am the next morning).
To add icing to the cake he hadnt even started on the Contract With America yet. That was to come later (within 100 days actually) this was just in cleaning up the House.
There is no denying that he’s the smartest guy in the room with a proven track record and can mop the floor with Obama in any debate setting.
We KNOW what he will do once in office, that isn’t true for the other candidates unfortunately. We only hear sounds bites and further descriptions of the problems we already know exist.

Which of Newts "big ideals" equals big spending? It seems to me a remarkable thread running through all his ideas is how to do things more efficiently.
