"I'm not a manager. I'm not a visionary," he told the crowd in an apparent reference to his GOP rivals Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. "I'm a guy from a steel town who grew up understanding what made this country great and for the years that I've been involved in public life, put my heart and my effort on the line to make this country the kind of country that we all want to hand on to our children and grandchildren."
Santorum also touched on the fight over who's the real "Washington insider," saying the only reason Romney wasn't a Washington politician is because he lost his Senate race in 1994.
"You hear a lot of talk about who's the insider and who's the outsider in this race. There's a guy that's outside of Washington, who was not a senator or a congressman not because he didn't try but because he never got elected," he said. In contrast, Santorum added, he was someone who was "an outsider when he was inside" Washington.

You're right. I'm too stupid like everyone else on this forum.
I think you are embarrassed that in your rush to post every article you can about Santorum, you posted one that is indeed very negative.
Or perhaps you really do think of Obama as a visionary - proving that I am right - that you really don’t know what a visionary is.
Snark all you want, admitting to not being a visionary is not a good thing when running for a huge leadership position. Now, if you’re running for town auditor or something, that’s great. The sweater vest will work for that position too.
Yes they are, and Santorum is generally a union politician.
Another reason he is not my choice.
He’d a doofus!
>> The sweater vest will work for that position too.
LOL
All the wrong candidates suspended their campaigns. Rick Perry, get back into it! This fool ain’t going nowhere.
We laugh, but I’m beginning to think that Santorum is onto something here. And not something good.
I think he really means he is NOT a visionary and I think he really thinks that is a GOOD thing. And his supporters, many of them, think so too. God help us. The Type B bureaucratic big government accounting types - they are killing us and we don’t need one in the White House.
This might be who these people really are. Scary.
I’m not no visionary, I’m Bush III!
Yes, sir. Newt the visionary, sitting on the couch with Nancy Pelosi. Newt, the visionary and Green Conservatism. Yes, sir, a true visionary.
>> I think he really means he is NOT a visionary and I think he really thinks that is a GOOD thing. And his supporters, many of them, think so too. God help us.
That’s a good job of articulating what I feel in my gut. I just don’t LIKE the guy. Huckabee redux. He exists on a higher moral plane, and he by golly knows what’s good for us, and he won’t mind spending our money to stick it er, I mean, give it to us.
I guess people are getting nervous. You post a puff piece about Santorum, and everybody feels compelled to come and express faux outrage.
I’m still avoiding the Gingrich threads, but there must be something less than happy there to make these people all come into all your threads.
Maybe you are providing a public service.
Santorum must have worn a hard hat to match his little sweater vest:) Steel driving man with a blue collar.
He had one vision...the bridge to nowhere or was that a nightmare?
You continue to prove, with post after post, that you don’t have a damned idea what a visionary is. You did it again. Visionaries are risk takers and yes, as such, they make mistakes. You think you were so cool and so smart by bringing up the Pelosi thing (yawn, like we don’t all know about that) - but actually Newt was trying to be visionary by that.
Now, he was WRONG, and he says now he was wrong - but that’s what visionaries do. They take risks, they are on the edge, and they do make mistakes - and when they do, they admit them, learn, and move on.
You are really clueless on what a visionary is and you prove it with every post.
Santuckabee. Huckatorum. Indeed. That is my vision.
Anyone that would sit down with someone who is that subversive - Nancy Peolsi - to the American ideal is not someone that can be trusted.
That person has no convictions to his core. You can spin it as a visionary, but it is anything but that. And you continue to prove with every post that you are as arrogant and the “visionary” you claim to support.
I love that Arlen Specter picture. We got Roberts and Alito from Specter. How about you get your mind right.
LOL!
Seven days till Michigan and Arizona, you seem to be in full panic mode.
Don’t give up.
But how well do you think your sole-visionary candidate will do in Michigan and Arizona on Tuesday?
Santorum should be paid as an ad writer for his opponents.
