Satan has his sights on the United States of America! Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has declared. Satan is attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that has so deeply rooted in the American tradition.
This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age? He attacks all of us and he attacks all of our institutions.
What exactly is wrong with this from Santorum? First, it's correct in any case and in any venue.
Second, it was delivered as an address at a religious gathering.
Can someone please tell me what's wrong with this? I'm totally baffled UNLESS the opposition is sending the message that they are ATHEIST.

Perhaps mormons don’t believe in satan and they think this is absurd?

Thank you for sharing your insights, dear brother in Christ!
I applaud his statement! It takes great courage to speak the truth when it is politically inconvenient.
