The P3Cs are just a huge honking targets against a modern fighter jet. Without escort fighter these planes are just big huge sitting ducks. P3Cs are not too difficult to detect and they are not even fast enough to evade a long range BVR missile. Last time once such PAF maritime surveillance aircraft French Atlantique was shot down by an Indian Mig with 28 people onboard.
