The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Newt Gingrich will not campaign in Michigan in advance of next Tuesday's primary there:
Spokesman R.C. Hammond confirmed Monday night that the campaign is scrapping tentative plans to travel to Michigan at the end of the week ahead of the states Feb. 28 primary.
Gingrich is spending Tuesday and Wednesday in the other Feb. 28 primary Arizona but that is mostly for the sake of Wednesday nights debate, and his public schedule will be light.

That’s good.
Im for Newt. It isn’t something I’m keeping a secret.
How many have you’ve read? 3?
I’ve always been clear in my support of Newt. Sorry if not being a bandwagon conservative for this guy somehow equals being for Ron Paul or Obama.
But then again I shouldn’t expect people running behind Santorum to actually put much thought into this type of thing anyway.
I support Newt with my mouth and my money.
But I know Newt’s future in this campaign is tied to the quick demise of Mitt Romney.
The polling data is pretty clear that only Rick Santorum is in a position to beat Romney next Tuesday in Arizona and Michigan.
I hope Rick Santorum wins both states to deliver a knockout punch to Romney.
skaterboy, how long have you been following politics? Just wondering. Yes, Newt knows what he is doing. Get back to me in a couple of months. :)
Poll | Date | Sample | MoE | Santorum | Romney | Paul | Gingrich | Spread |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
RCP Average | 2/17 - 2/20 | -- | -- | 33.8 | 33.0 | 11.4 | 9.2 | Santorum +0.8 |
NBC News/Marist | 2/19 - 2/20 | 715 LV | 3.7 | 35 | 37 | 13 | 8 | Romney +2 |
Rasmussen Reports | 2/20 - 2/20 | 750 LV | 4.0 | 38 | 34 | 10 | 9 | Santorum +4 |
Mitchell/Rosetta Stone | 2/20 - 2/20 | 420 LV | 4.7 | 30 | 32 | 7 | 9 | Romney +2 |
WeAskAmerica | 2/19 - 2/19 | 1025 LV | 3.1 | 29 | 29 | 12 | 10 | Tie |
PPP (D) | 2/17 - 2/19 | 602 LV | 4.0 | 37 | 33 | 15 | 10 | Santorum +4 |
Exactly and since Newt is a genius he knows what to do. Tell people that Mitt has to win Michigan then pull back and see if Rick Santorum can do his work for him.
Sorry about that - my mistake.
