Forget Michigan.
If Rick Santorum really wants to hand Mitt Romney his head he ought to challenge him in Massachusetts.
It is here, not in Michigan, where Romney, governor for four years, made his political bones, first by running unsuccessfully against the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, and then defeating Democrat Shannon O'Brien for governor in 2002.
It is also here where thousands of people -- to their total surprise -- woke up the other day to find that Romney ran the state as a "severely conservative" governor for four years. Who knew? That was before he declined to run for re-election and became a conservative so he could run for president in 2008, again in 2012 and maybe once more in 2016.
We all thought back then (2002-06) that Romney was something of a Republican moderate, a sort of Bill Weld/Paul Cellucci combo Republican who sought out compromise with a Legislature run by Democrats. Now he tells us he was a closet right-wing conservative all along, and a severe one at that. Where do I go to get my vote back?

Any chance to vote against Romney here in MA is a gift that I won’t dismiss out of hand. The primary vote here is the ONLY vote that I will make this year that can count for anything.
And there were special circumstances in 1980.
Mass is too far gone. Total loony bin.
The electorate is made up of illegals, 5th generation welfare queens and the moonbats from the many universities.
The suburbs are more conservative but conservative on the Dem scale of things, i.e. Scott Brown is about as right as they would ever go.
I agree.
I’d like to see them battle it out in a good old-fashioned “Cage Match”.
Rick “the Beaver” Santorum will never beat Homer “Eddie Haskell” Obama...
Absolutely.
Romney is hated for RomneyCARE.
ANY CONSERVATIVE will defrock the insane liar.
