With a 2/3rds majority in the State Senate they are getting it done with the voters, not around them.

While it's obviously not good for business, I'm not even really sure that it's anti-business anymore. A Democrat who considers himself pro-business (and those people exist) could easily regard the taxes as a choice that the public and business have made.

It's not like any of this has caught anyone by surprise -- if you're doing business in California in 2012 this is part of the equation. The businesses who can replace their customers or employees in Las Vegas or Dallas have gone there -- those who can't do it remain their by choice, even if it's a proxy choice of the customers or employees they need. The great mystery is why the customers or employees are willing to pay the taxes for the generally low quality of services they receive.
