Billionaire Sheldon Adelson Says He Might Give $100M To Newt Gingrich Or Other Republican

Sheldon Adelson plays as stubbornly in politics as he does in business. So the criticisms that he’s trying to personally buy the presidential election for Newt Gingrich are met with a roll of the eyes. “Those people are either jealous or professional critics,” Adelson tells me during his first interview since he and his wife began funneling $11 million, with another $10 million injection widely expected, into the former speaker’s super PAC, Winning Our Future. “They like to trash other people. It’s unfair that I’ve been treated unfair—but it doesn’t stop me. I might give $10 million or $100 million to Gingrich.”

Adelson, 78, certainly can afford to: With a net worth of roughly $25 billion, that $11 million, which jolted Gingrich’s flatlining presidential bid back to life, equates to 0.044% of his fortune. For someone with a $1 million net worth, the equivalent would be $440, or a two-night stay at Adelson’s Venetian casino. Adelson could personally fund an entire presidential campaign—say, $1 billion or so—and not even notice. Sheldon Adelson Could Give $1 Billion To Gingrich And Not Notice.

Is that fair? “I’m against very wealthy people attempting to or influencing elections,” he shrugs. “But as long as it’s doable I’m going to do it. Because I know that guys like Soros have been doing it for years, if not decades. And they stay below the radar by creating a network of corporations to funnel their money. I have my own philosophy and I’m not ashamed of it. I gave the money because....

What if the rape victims take the next day the morning-after pill? (preventing the ovaries from releasing an egg, or altering the lining of the womb, so that an egg can't embed itself there. It does not cause abortions). Santorum is against the use of morning-after pills as well.

So you are saying that IF a fertalized egg is present in the womb that this “morning after-pill” will NOT purge it? Show me the medical evidence and I will agree with you. The fact is that a fertalized egg IS a life.... PERIOD. you can refuse to accept the fact but here are the medical facts:

Morning After Pill / Plan B (Medically Induced Abortion)
The “Morning After Pill” (also called Plan B) is a large dose of oral contraceptive. The medication is actually 2 tablets, one taken within 72 hours of intercourse and the second 12 hours later. The Morning After Pill / Plan B is not the same as RU486.

The Morning After Pill / Plan B acts as an emergency contraceptive principally by preventing ovulation or fertilization. In addition, it may inhibit implantation. The Morning After Pill / Plan B is not intended to be effective once the process of implantation has begun. If the Zygote does not adhere to the uterine wall, a natural abortion occurs as the Zygote passes out of the uterus. The purpose of the Morning After Pill / Plan B is to prevent the fertilized egg, the Zygote from adhering to the uterine wall thereby creating a medically induced abortion. Naturally occurring abortions and medically induced abortions are not the same.

The Morning After Pill / Plan B does not protect against HIV infection (AIDS) or other sexually transmitted diseases. The most common side effects in the Plan B clinical trial were nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, and menstrual changes. These side effects are a product of high doses of medication.

RU486 / Mifepristone (Medically Induced Abortion)
RU486 (also called the ‘Abortion Pill’) is only approved for use in women up to the 49th day after their last menstrual period (LMP). RU486 as administered by a physician usually requires three office visits. Initial medication is intended to medically cause death of the Embryo. Following death of the Embryo the woman’s body may naturally abort the Embryo, causing the body to release the embryo from the uterine wall to pass out of the uterus. However, the body sometimes will not naturally release the deceased embryo from the uterine wall. If the body does not release the lifeless embryo, another dose of medication may cause the uterine to release the embryo from the uterus. If the body does not release the embryo, aspiration, curettage or dilation and evacuation may be required (see below).

IMHO the fertilized egg IS a human life that should receive the same constitutional protections as you and I.

OK, I’ve got it. You’re as nutty as “Saint” Rick. You really deserve each other. And take the word “Israel” off your screen name.
Our conversation is OVER.
Buh-bye.

I have not attacked Newt..

Didn't I say keep it honest? I never said you did so what is your whine about?

I was explaining my reasons for supporting Rick over Newt...

It's a waste of bandwidth as there isn't any. And why did you overlook ALL HIS BAGGAGE?

will you make the same committment to support Rick when he wins the Primary?

You didn't comprehend or even read my post - I said NEVER will I vote for anyone who deliberately lies about another to promote himself and who already campaigned for a pro homo marriage and pro abortion candidate to deceive others in order to vote romney in. I'm a serious Christian - I walk the talk unlike slick self proclaimed Rick who disobeys the commandment - do not bear false witness - nationwide to suite his political hunger. Unfortunately, you could care less what wrong he does against God, who you 'claim' to follow. Instead you embrace/promote it his outright disobedience. He should apologize NOW and bow out of the race. But his self righteous power hungry self won't allow it. That's how I know who/what is driving him and what's within him and it's not good and it's not from God.

I have no idea who supports RP but I know his stance on Israel - he does not know God/His Word. So he will lead our country off the cliff, just like mitt and rick - because they will not be able to go to the ALL KNOWING GOD as they don't obey what Is Written. So don't use the name of God when promoting Rick - that's using God's name in vain. He's not being led of God but the father of lies, satan.

I’m open to correction, but I don’t think Adelson is Orthodox or Sabbath observant, simply sympathetic to their concerns. Not all that significant either way.

So Adelson gives money to Newt to Help Mittens. Mittens scorched earth left a bad taste in everyone mouth and his funds are drying up. Mittens went crying to Adelson looking for a hand out.

Right, Adelson is giving money to Newt to help Romney. Putting Newt on double secret probation. Slick guy.

LOL. It’s like stepping in gum on a hot day. You just can’t get it off you. I wish John Rob could come up with a kill button you could switch on and off just for yourself so you could eliminate repetitive annoying posts when you don’t want to waste time... There’s more than one way to hijack a thread IMO.

BTW I’ll be sending in my early vote for Newt here in AZ tomorrow.

In any case, it’s a great profile article, giving more insight into what motivates Adelson, a guy who wants to be the conservative counter-balance to Soros, and for good reasons.

Mr. Adelson is #8 on the Forbes 400, just behind #7, George Soros. Soros is three years older and half a billion richer.

In 1995, Speaker Gingrich introduced the “Jerusalem Embassy Act”:

And it became part of the Republican Platform in 1996. Newt knows he doesn't need to sign an executive order, just don't sign the waiver in February, and the State Department is required to make the move or lose funding.

Santorum: “Pregnant rape victims should welcome their horrible gift from God”

Comments like that will prevent Santorum from Winning the GE.

I consider myself a Christian born and raised a Hardshell Baptist also devoutly Pro-Life. I am having a hard time accepting that comment imagine how the independents that are not Pro-Life will take it.

I don’t think any honorable person would take this man’s money. Just think of how he earns it.

All the casinos are inevitably and indubitably tied to the Mafia and have been for decades.

This is dirty money.

I would urge Mr. Gingrich to just say “No.”

“Newt’s ace in the hole. Newt will rise again. -:)”

Perhaps but only to fall again for the last time. Perhaps taking republicans with him.

I think the way newt has campaigned against success, and financial choices with your own money is discussing. Not only is it morally wrong, it is going to make it very difficult for newt or anyone to take on socialist Obama. You can’t beat a socialist at his own envy & hate game.

I love Glenn Beck. Don’t much care for watching “TV” on the internet. I am spoiled by my HDTV and the DVR.

HST, what is needed is a 24/7 Real Conservative (i.e., NON PC!) Cable Channel.

He wouldn’t dare.
