I suppose you would prefer Laura would have sent her mom to live in a nursing home. Not me. I would take my mother in any day. Now a sibling, no.

Just because Bush did something does not make it okay. After all, the Department of Homeland Security is his debacle. Bush or obama, mothers-in-law or mothers do not live in the White House. If you were president and took your mom into the White House, as you say you would, I'd be mighty pissed that you were using MY MONEY to take care of your dear parent. There are other options for elder care, and making the rest of us pay for it is not one.
