I don’t believe in ANY social organization of any active duty troops, for ANY purpose.
Their social organization IS their military service.
It is NOT a democracy and it’s not even an open society. It’s closed to all but its own members and rank & command, not democracy determine its operations and activity. That is as it must be.
“Social organization” into memnership groups by “interest” leads only to balkanization of the loyalties of those who serve.
I am not saying that INDIVIDUALS do not have, do not need to have some INDIVIDUAL expression of their INDIVIDUAL interests (religious or otherwise), but organizing into groups around those interests is NOT healthy, for and within the military.
The success of the military mission DEPENDS on unit cohesion and all the troops aligning their loyalties to each other in that mission.
Social organization into membership groups by interest within the ranks creates sources of disunity and division.
It should be universally banned.
I absolutely agree and was glad to see Elaine Donnelly point out that the military is making an exception for this “OutServe” group. This should not stand and military leaders should shut it down immediately, of course that won’t happen with Zer0 as CinC.
