Hate to tell ya this, but I've read on a number of different gun boards that many guys end up taking the pistol grip off and putting the stock back on.
Even shooting from the hip, the stock provides an additional control point (hold the stock against your hip).
YMMV

Howdy! Picked up the new Springfield Armory XD(M) .45 Compact the other day and couldn’t be happier. The best part is that it fits into my old XD-40sc Crossbreed Supertuck like a glove...I hate having to buy all new accessories!

I like it...the longer barrel makes it easier to shoot accurately - and boy is she accurate!

Can you tell the difference between 357sig and 40cal? The .357 Sig is louder. The .40 has a little more kick to it

I thought about holding off, but FOR ME 9+1 is an advantage over 5+1. I have no trouble with concealment with the .45c...different strokes.

I use those blue shooting earmuffs and can’t tell a bit of difference in sound.
Recoil when you change out the barrels is difficult to differ unless I had one each side by side. Going from memory I think the 40cal has more kick but it’s not much.
