On Fox News Sunday this morning, Karl Rove threw cold water on the murmurings by unnamed top Republicans that a new candidate could emerge should Romney lose Michigan.
Host Chris Wallace outlined a scenario in which a new candidate could still get on the ballots of California, New Jersy, Montana, New Mexico, South Dakota, and possibly Texas, and win enough delegates to contest the convention.
But Rove was skeptical, to say the least.
This proves mental illness is transmittable by contact, personal contact. Youve been talking to all these people and look, lets go. . . . Lets take that list that you just threw up, and lets add in one more big state just for the heck of it, Texas. . . . There are 554 delegates up in those states that you talked about, plus Texas; 222 of them awarded, winner take all; 332 of them awarded proportionately.

Ok Karl, but Romney is toast. So you better either get used to the idea of a late entry or Rick or Newt. Romney is about to have his butt handed to him next week.
If the republicans tried to insert another candidate into the race its only because they want a deadlocked convention. A new candidate simply wouldn’t have a chance of taking enough delegates to win.
RINOs/Goldman Sacks should’a put Romney in four years ago.
Mental illness always comes to mind when I think of Rove these days.
He’s been toking up with RonPaul and Willie Nelson’s stash again.
Is he calling the MSM mentally ill?
Now Rove is an architect AND a psychiatrist.
Shut up Karl.
Toyko Rove, like the rest of the GOP-e, has a lot invested in Romney. They fear a brokered convention. Romney must win the nomination to avoid a brokered convention.
Rove: “Actually, everyone in this country but me is mentally ill! So I get to call the shots! Now shut up and sit down!”
Translation: Jeb said no.
Karl, the sane wing of the party picked this field. How’s that working out for ya?
The desperation of the establishment business-as-usual Repubs makes them indistinguishable from the 'Rats.
Resorting to namecalling attacks on the conservative voters?
So cool.
A caller into talk radio this morning said it best: “We’re going to lose the most important election of our life times because none of our candidates is deemed conservative enough for the conservatives.”
If we lose the elction, we lose our country. It’s that simple. This is hardly the election to play with fire. If Obama wins, it could be our last shot. I’m just going to watch this mess play out and hope and pray for the best at this point.
With respect, I disagree that this is an important election. It is not. Both the social and economic tipping points passed some time ago, and Republican differences with Democrats are too small to change anything, considering the checks and balances of our legislative system. We legislate by consensus, and the consensus is to not face our problems.
We should all enjoy whatever time we have left before things go very bad. At some point, we will get a chance to start rebuilding, but that time is a long way off.
Why can’t Rove just shut up!
Yooohoo, Tokyo Rove ... over here, you 'Rat cheerleading be-otch.
