Nadia Lockyer's troubles open door to closer look

Vetting a candidate for elected office is commonplace in American politics, but sometimes the level of scrutiny isn't as thorough as it should be.

Consider the recent troubles of Nadia Lockyer, an Alameda County supervisor who on Tuesday announced a leave of absence following an alleged assault two weeks ago.

In an incident that still lacks clarity, Lockyer said she was the victim of an assault. Her husband, state Treasurer Bill Lockyer, said the attacker was an ex-boyfriend and that the assault happened Feb. 3 at a Newark hotel.

Then on Tuesday, Nadia Lockyer announced that she had enrolled in a rehabilitation program to be treated for an unspecified chemical dependency and chronic pain from an old car accident.

Nadia Lockyer's slip and fall from grace makes me realize how little we really know about some of the people we elect to office.

A newcomer to politics who was only elected in November, Nadia Lockyer's career is more the result of her husband's political influence than her own.

She looks pretty hot and her husband looks...well...kinda fruity. It sounds like she got together with an old boyfriend and did some drugs and he slapped her around a bit.

That broad has crazy eyes. Can see that a mile away. Indispensable for a rat elected official, especially one of her gender - but it’s Californee so she could be a dude anyway.

The funds raised in these FReepathons go to pay our current quarter expenses. But we're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little extra now, if we can, and the rest next quarter.
