Gingrich: 'Our goal is to win Georgia'

PEACHTREE CITY, GA -- Newt Gingrich made his intentions in Georgia known Friday night while criticizing his GOP rivals for skipping his home state.

“It's very important for me to win Georgia. Our goal is to win Georgia,” Gingrich told reporters inside an airport hangar following a rally with roughly 350 people.

Fresh off a fundraising swing through California, the former House speaker challenged Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum not to ignore Georgia, a Super Tuesday state.

“If you’re afraid to debate Newt Gingrich, you sure can’t debate Barack Obama,” Gingrich said at the event just outside of Atlanta. “I am going to ask them to reconsider and come to Georgia. It will be just fine. We will be hospitable.”

-snip-

Two chickens were even seen wandering around the Gingrich event Friday mocking the two candidates for their decision not to participate in the debate. One was wearing a Romney shirt and holding a sign that read “I’m Chicken to Debate Newt” while the other wore a Santorum shirt and held a sign that read “76 Delegates but Mitt and Rick don’t want them?”

Georgia could be more important to Newt than Michigan is to RINO-Rom. If Newt loses Georgia, turn out the lights, the party’s over.

Wonderful photo. I am glad that Newt is still fighting for the American ideas and new solutions. On the local radio, they are like writing him off and barely no coverage on TV, they are deliberately keeping him out of circulation. His supporters want more information. God Bless, Newt. ( I get so angry how they have mistreated him/after the dedicated service to our nation. The man is a genius. (May the Lord turn this ship around for us with Mr. Newt). Newt/Palin

The four candidates all have flaws but Newt actually has a record of trying to reform things and that’s what has to happen in Washington.

He was dead last in November and he’s last now. Nothing’s going to change...I want everyone to be at the convention and duke it out.

I think so too. He is the best of the 4 ..we are going to

need a thinker/problem solver to take on Obama’s rhetoric.

He is having a head wind one after the other like: ABC hit story, then Drudge did the week's worth of hit pieces, the millions of dollars of negative ads (many were lies) spend to destroy the man. The media lies. Rush said Newt had too much ties to the establishment and on and on of Ricky being a conservative and the Non Romney vote going to him. He hasn't even vetted, we don't know if he could hold up and carry the base. It's not too late because hopefully people will want real reform this election.

Rush has been absolutely useless this campaign cycle.

Rush is only on the mark if a person thinks he is blatently supporting that person’s choice. LOL

Hey, shipmate!

Someone on another thread has said that the GOP has set up a deal between Romney and Santorum to work together. This rumor is coming out of Pittsburg.

The elites are leery of a brokered convention - a Gingrich/Palin ticket - and are attempting a firewall.

Can Sarah Palin get ’er done? Pros disagree

Begins at #6.

If true, it really stinks for true conservatives.

He’s providing commentary, but not leadership. He dropped the ball when it came to the anti-Newt smears spread around by Drudge and the Romney camp. The heavy work was done by other people. And when that heavy work was done, he did his best to spread that message while making it a point to still work in a bash of Newt. He plays footsie, never really going as far as he should. He should have been right out there, outraged about it or, at least, reporting on it heavily and on the smear machine. You don’t need to make an endorsement to do that.

I hope so. It would really suck if Romney won Georgia.

Definitely would suck. Kind of like Al Gore losing Tennessee (not that that was a bad thing...)
