Texas Gov. Rick Perry will appear with Newt Gingrich for the first time at the CNN debate in Mesa, Ariz., on Feb. 22, a spokesperson for Perry confirmed to ABC News.

Perry will appear in the spin room with Gingrich after the debate. There are no other events planned, at this time.

Perry endorsed Gingrich when he dropped out of the race on Jan. 19 but has yet to appear publicly with him.

I know, and it’s sick, and they are too.
God bless you, dear friend.

If Perry is thinking of VP, then he WOULD be running. Not as POTUS, but running, nonetheless. This overjoys me. But he needs to do it quietly otherwise the rats will kill him again.

Rick Perry VP = 16 years of Conservative control of the White House.

the question was literally ...

something like:

If the election were today which of the following candidates would you vote for

Romney
Santorum
Paul
Gingrich
Perry

or something to that effect, then it asked it again in a different way and asked to put a number from 1 to 100 of how likely we were to vote for one of the following candidates and the total had to = 100. And Perry’s name was on that question too.

Perry is there to advocate for Newt after the debate.

In the so-called media spin room.

Reporters interview candidate’s supporters afterwards.

There’s no need to prattle on with erroneous reasons for why he’s there.

Because we know why, and it’s not what you said.

The only thing I can think of is that Perry’s name could be on some primary ballots even after he dropped out.

But when a name on a ballot is no longer running, it isn’t significant as to that person’s candidacy, because there no longer is one.

It might help predict vote totals if you include it in a poll question...you don’t want to assume who his former supporters would vote for, when some of the diehards might still vote for him.

This is a moot question in my mind, because as I type this I don’t know if his name is still on some ballots going forward.

well, I live in Texas so... I guess it’s possible that Perry is still on the ballot here

I was discussing why it didn’t make sense for his name to be in a presidential poll question.

I have no more reason to think he wants to be VP than that he is thinking of running again...in both cases I have zero reason.

I simply meant that if...and it wasn’t about the VP slot, it was about the presidential race, according to texas freeper2009...but if his name was in ANY poll question, one about who you would like to see as VP would make a little sense, while the other would make none.

This is all about speculating as to why a Zogby poll had his name in the presidential telephone poll texasfreeper2009 was called about.

I said the poll being messed up was the most likely reason.

Then I got to thinking that perhaps Perry’s name is still on some primary ballots because they were printed in advance of his dropping out.

Again, speculation, because I don’t know for a fact if his name is still on any ballots.

Texan here as well.

There wouldn’t be anything special if it got on the Texas ballot before he dropped out and is still there, because in any state if he got on it before that, the result would be his name is still there. Once they’re printed, that’s it.

I just don’t have that answer.

It’s my opinion that it’s still irrelevant to the race.

But that a poll could choose to include it because a small number of voters might still pull that lever, and if you’re one of them...not saying you are...if you were, they wouldn’t know where else to assign your primary vote in their poll snapshot unless they included all the ballot names.

You don’t think he’d consider VP? Why?

All I said was I have zero reason to believe he wants it or is considering it.

I can’t cite a single fact that leads me to believe he is.

That’s all I meant.

I’m not declaring that he won’t. That’s the prediction business, the crystal ball business, which I’m not in.

My guess is that he would rather stay in Texas. And I know he knows the VP position for what it is, and it was never that position he sought, it was the presidency he sought. So I would tend to doubt he would do it. I would tend to believe he would rather do something else.

But factually, txhurl, all I know is I’m not aware of anything that leads me to believe he’s trying to “go there”.

Doesn’t prove he couldn’t surprise me, but I would be surprised.

Believe me, I have nothing against Texas.

Rick Perry’s situation brought to mind Marlon Brando’s famous lines from ‘’On the Waterfront’’:

‘’...What do I get? A one-way ticket to Palookaville. You was my brother, Charlie ... You should have taken care of me better ... I could have had class. I could have been a contender. I could have been somebody,...’’

Here’s the video: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=marlon+brando+on+the+waterfront+speech&view=detail&mid=1CD4ADC43C6E2622D0751CD4ADC43C6E2622D075&first=0&FORM=LKVR6

Rick Perry could have been President of the United States if he he’d been able to speak half as eloquently as Marlon Brando’s dopey, washed-up prize fighter. But, alas.

Um... Joke? Humor?

Yes, I know why Perry is really there - of course it's for the reasons you stated.

GOOD! That’s great news!

OT, but have any of you received an email from Ann Romney auctioning off a trip to the Arizona debate for a measly $5? Not only will the winner have their travel expenses paid, but also hang out with the family...Craig, I believe, before the debate, and the rest of the attending family, and Mitt himself, after the debate.

If this kind of thing sounds familiar, it’s because Obama has auctioned off a dinner with him for $5 a pop.

I don’t know...I thought it was a bit tacky...but maybe that’s just me.

Not to worry. Ballots in Texas have not been printed and will not for a long time. Filing dates have not even been set yet.
