• USDA spokesman Bruce Alexander said the person monitoring the lunches was a “North Carolina education staff member” [sic] reviewing the facility.

Well, does he or she have a name?

I thought in the post Columbine era, schools had heightened security and any K-12 school I have been in every visitor has to register. If the school has no idea who this person was then a lot of administrator types should be fired for jeopardizing the security of students. Could some local pedo just wander in claiming to be a government “lunch inspector”?

Bob Barnes, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Hoke County schools, told the Fayetteville Observer...the DHHS representative examined six lunches in the class that day, Jan. 30, and found that one did not meet federal nutritional standards. The child's mother and grandmother told CJ that the child was told she had to eat a cafeteria lunch, but Barnes told the Observer that this was a misunderstanding on the part of the 4-year-old.

"We are not the lunch bag police," Barnes told the Observer. "We would never put a child in any type of embarrassing situation. But we are responsible to see that every child gets a nutritious meal.

Why do they not look at the sign in log on the front desk at the school? For crying out loud, if we have to sign in at schools to do fire safety that we are invited to do, surely SOMEONE at the school has some clue as to who and where this person came from. Otherwise a lot more people need to be fired.
