In fact Pope Benedict joined WHO’s call for universal health coverage just before its report hit the press. He called health care a moral responsibility of government and an “inalienable right,” regardless of social and economic status or ability to pay. He cautioned that the privatization of health care should “not become a threat to the accessibility, availability, and quality of health care.”

You are right, the Pope is totally wrong in this. But, the stand against the government telling them what they have to do concerning immoral, abortion ridden, so called health care is not. Wouldn't it be grand if they would see what having government health care really means. It should be completely obvious that all over the world where it is being done it has led to immoral rationing. Will they, the Pope and other high ranking Catholics, see the err of their ways and learn? I hope so. If they use reason and logic they will. They need to see that there are other answers.

Well there was no stand against government by the Pope or any other noted religious leaders, before this monster was birthed. The Tea Party was alone in letting Godly voices be heard. I heard NOT one word out of the religious leadership about the vile and evil taunts and sinister accusations hurled at and about the TEA PARTY. AND IF 'conservatives' think this is a winning election issue then they have learned nothing from the previous election. Very few people in this nation are the least bit interested in a fight over 'birth control' least of all those coveted independent voters.

Reality is this, 'social justice' of universal health care will and must include birth control. Our 'pop' culture sells everything based upon how sexy the product is perceived. There is no way people who are barely surviving high gas prices and sky rocketing food prices are going to consider having another child as something within their means.

IF anything all this does is make the 'religious' right look as if they are worse than Obama, making people have babies they cannot afford. Because the topic of discussion sure is not about 'energy' independence, national security, and jobs.

My sympathy level is nil for the majority that did nothing and now are whining about this universal health care problem they find themselves saddled. They are a day late and too many dollars short.
