There are thousands of miles of pipeline (oil and gas) running unmonitored and unguarded all over the US. A bunch of terrorist sabotage events would do a lot of damage to the US economy.
Terrorists would not specifically target N Dakota, but I think what he meant was that just because places are far from major cities does not mean they are not potential targets.
You must be another one of those ignorant fools who believes every word Santorum says. If you did know even a small portion about how the petroleum producing infrastructure works, then you would also know that you could bomb or damage over half of the producing network and not slow production of refining capability down, even a fraction of a percent. Every system has bypass or alternative routs as well as a stored reserve tanks to offset fluctuations in shipping and supply.
It would not only take several thousand “terrorists” to attack simultaneously, but even if they could, we would still get the product moved and refined.
So, give it a break and leave your analysis for the professionals who know something about the subject.
Just to expand on that, make it hundreds of thousands of miles of pipeline (oil and gas)
