This week, 14 noncommissioned officers at Camp Zama took turns wearing the pregnancy simulators as they stretched, twisted and exercised during a three-day class that teaches them to serve as fitness instructors for pregnant soldiers and new mothers. No way that can ever come near to feeling how uncomfortable it can be to be pregnant. They need to include some syrup of ipecac to get the full effect.
You might as well use a box of crayons to depict the Grand Canyon. That's about how close you'll get.

If it was really about empathy, like some are pretending, then that would be important. It’s just a training aid, to demonstrate the logistics of physical activity during pregnancy. They aren’t being forced to dress up as pregnant women to learn empathy. They’re training to be physical fitness instructors to pregnant women.
