I take this route frequently. We often sit on a siding waiting for freight traffic to pass. So what? It makes absolutely no difference to me if Amtrak arrives in Chicago at 11 AM or 1 PM, or if I get back to Lansing at 8 or 9 PM.
Traverse City would have been my bet. In order of cities that have gotten the wish list of Democrat / leftist priorities:
Detroit - 100% leftist. Total state corruption, total state control, government is just the gang with the jails and the tax power.
Flint - 99.8% leftist. Michael Moore doesn’t come home that often. When he’s there, it’s 105%.
Dearborn - 95% leftist. Leftists want to lump islamic honor killings in with conservatives, but that’s just because they hate conservatives and want to give islam a pass right now. In reality, the political reality of islamic nations suggests that islam is not compatible with individual rights or liberties. Islam is leftist.
Ann Arbor - 95% leftist. I saw posted somewhere that conservatives don’t like to go there because its hard to breathe in all the smug.
Lansing - 90% leftist. Union central and the state capital to boot.
Traverse City - 90% leftist. Limousine liberal central. With good wine.
K’zoo - 85% leftist. Going downhill fast, but it’s still in western michigan and has no wine to attract the hippies.
Battle creek - 75%
