Prices for gasoline are hitting record highs in France, where a gallon now costs more than $8 in some areas. That's the word from Eleanor Beardsley, who filed a report for our Newscast unit:
"Prices are up because of problems with two of France's main oil suppliers. Nigeria is racked by civil unrest, and European Union sanctions bar France from importing oil from Iran."
"A lower euro has also raised the price of gasoline because crude oil prices are denominated in dollars."
"The head of Total, France's largest oil company, said he could not exclude prices going as high as 2 euros a liter — or more than $10 a gallon. Total says the only way to bring prices down is to find more sources of oil."

and then I look at europe...and especially now, greece, and see how wonderful europe is doing.
$5+ per gallon gas is exactly what Obama and the left wants. Then the solar and wind would not have gone bankrupt. Obama was counting on much higher costs of energy. Probably the biggest failure of his Presidency is that gas is still below $5.
I have moronic old college friends who have be telling me for years how our gas prices are too low […]Moronic indeed; it is frightening how intelligent people can be so brainwashed that they believe that there is such a thing as “too low” for a commodity market price. The market price of a commodity like crude oil already reflects its scarcity. If oil weren’t scarce, it wouldn’t even be an economic good in the first place, and the gas price would be zero.
We live in a time where most people appear to be truly insane.

On Rick Perry’s new private toll roads in Texas, drivers pay just under $10.00 per gallon for gas...so who are we to talk? Well, they don’t quite pay the $8.00 at the pump - they pay it at the pump AND at the toll both. For a car that gets 25 MPG, and pays 25 cents PER MILE in tolls, that comes out to an additional $6.25 per gallon of gas that the car uses - or just under $10.00 per gallon total.
I just like to remind people of this when they get all whiney about increasing the gas tax by 10 cents a gallon or so to pay for roads. In Texas, we haven’t increased our gas tax in 20 years - instead we make drivers pay 25 cents PER MILE if they want to avoid vicious traffic jams.
Gas up over a hundred percent since this, “ magic negro” took over.

Exactly.. in the twisted minds of this regime, the sooner they can force us onto trains and buses the better. Suburban living, private transportation and independent thought are anathema to our rulers.
About $ 8 a gallon here in Japan now .

Don’t worry, they’ll come for with mileage-based tolling, which also includes tolling based where you drive, when you drive, and what you drive (something that our governor has also looked into). Don’t think you’ll beat the system indefinitely.

You're not taking into account the fact that France has some hideously expensive toll roads as well. Imagine if our interstate highways were all toll roads - that's pretty much what you'll find in France. There are still secondary roads that are free, but the large, limited-access roadways are the toll roads.
I do agree, though, that a cumulative cost-per-mile metric is the best way to discuss this. It enables cross-comparisons among gasoline, diesel and E85-burning vehicles, as well as cars vs. rail or whatever. It's also the only way to get a meaningful measure of hybrids and plug-in electrics. I suspect that's the reason why the government avoids using that measurement - it would show that their ethanol fuels, electric vehicles and high-speed rail initiatives are all at the bottom of the heap.
Of course. Nearly everything is delivered by trucks and the costs have to be passed on, making everything more expensive. Next step - Hyperinflation.

They all drive little tee tiny cars that most americans would turn their noses up at. Thats what Obama has in store for us.
